Salesforce plans to make external AI agents register before they get in

Share

Salesforce will launch a system called Agentic Identity in November 2026, requiring customers to register external AI agents that use its APIs or MCP servers. Each agent will receive a unique identity, narrower permissions than those typically granted to human users, and a traceable record of its activity. New customers will have three months after notification to comply, while existing customers will follow a schedule linked to contract renewals. Salesforce is also preparing to bill external agent activity through Flex Credits, but pricing remains undetermined and customers will not be charged until rates are updated following at least 30 days’ notice.
