Between October 20 and 21, 2026, addresses linked to the Drift Protocol hack deposited approximately 44,510 ETH, worth nearly $109 million, into the Tornado Cash mixer. The transfers occurred in two batches, including 25,710 ETH valued between $61 million and $63 million, followed by an additional $46 million the next day. After these operations, the attacker’s wallets still held about 56,569 ETH, representing roughly $138 million. In July 2026, the same addresses had already sent around 23,095 ETH, then worth approximately $44 million, to the mixer. The April 1, 2026 attack, which caused an estimated $295 million in losses, has been attributed with medium-high confidence to a group linked to North Korean state actors and tracked as UNC4736 and UNC6862, while the victims’ recovery pool had only $3.1 million.
