On October 16, 2026, Malaysia showcased six semiconductor chips at the Selangor AI & Semiconductor Summit. Developed by companies based in the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park, they mark a shift from assembly and packaging toward chip design and intellectual property ownership. The combined estimated sales potential is 300 million ringgit, approximately 74 million dollars, per year. Among the six chips are SkyeChip’s MARS1000 for edge artificial intelligence, MaiStorage’s aiDAPTIV+ for storage, and SiliconX’s FPGA, promoted as Southeast Asia’s first homegrown field-programmable gate array for industrial and automotive applications. The national strategy aims to establish 110 high-value semiconductor companies and create between 300,000 and 500,000 tech-related jobs, relying on a partnership with Arm Ltd for access to chip architectures.
