Bitcoin’s loss-selling spike near $80K may mark a local bottom, Glassnode says

Share

Bitcoin dropped near the $80,000 mark on October 15, 2026, triggering a wave of loss-selling that Glassnode framed as potential capitulation. The on-chain analytics firm noted that similar episodes in August and September 2026 were followed by local bottoms, with the price recovering to around $82,400 on October 15 and $82,700 on October 16. Key levels to watch include the US spot Bitcoin ETF cost basis near $81,500 and the True Market Mean between $77,500 and $78,000. US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw approximately $3 billion in inflows between September 21 and October 6, 2026, followed by roughly $760 million in outflows since October 7. The four-to-one ratio of profitable to unprofitable spending provides a supportive backdrop, though the duration of ETF outflows may determine whether this dip becomes a floor or a trapdoor.
