CoreWeave, the Nvidia-backed AI cloud provider, is seeking to tap into life insurers’ capital to fund its massive data center buildout. The company’s 2032 bond yield spiked to 15% in October 2026, reflecting investor concerns about its $52 billion debt pile. CoreWeave has already closed an $8.5 billion investment-grade chip-backed loan backed by Meta and needs this “unlimited” insurer capital to reach 8 GW of power capacity by 2030. The plan comes as US private credit has grown from $96 billion to $2.4 trillion since 2010, raising bubble concerns from investors like Chamath Palihapitiya and Elon Musk. Most of CoreWeave’s 2027 capacity is already sold, but questions remain about whether the company can service its debt obligations if demand softens or overbuilding occurs.
