Interactive Brokers moves into Ethereum’s $110 billion staking market as institutional demand accelerates

Share

Interactive Brokers launched Ethereum staking through ZeroHash for eligible clients, allowing them to earn rewards on their ETH holdings via the brokerage’s client portal. Approximately 43.7 million ETH is staked, representing 35.77% of circulating supply, worth around $110 billion at ETH prices near $2,500. Institutional actors’ share of staked ETH reached 35.3%, up from 25.9% at the start of the year, according to Lido’s first-half report, reflecting a shift away from crypto-native staking providers. The service comes with notable uncertainties: rewards are variable, staking fees are undisclosed, and withdrawal delays can be substantial due to Ethereum’s validator exit queue, which held approximately 962,000 ETH pending at time of publication. Staked ETH does not qualify for Securities Investor Protection Corp. coverage as cryptocurrency held through crypto providers falls outside the brokerage’s custody.
