A coalition has launched the National Compute Grid, an initiative designed to pool AI computing capacity and address the shortages hitting researchers and startups. The AI Infrastructure Coalition (AIIC) was established in the US on November 19, 2025, with members including Google, Microsoft, and Andreessen Horowitz. The federal NAIRR program already supports over 600 research projects and 6,000 students. Globally, India is rolling out its own grid in phases through 2026, while China reached 1,882 EFLOPS of intelligent computing capacity by March 2026.
