A handful of G20 countries rejected U.S. calls to curb excess industrial capacity and non-market policies, according to a statement from the U.S. Trade Representative. Only Mexico and Argentina signed on to a U.S.-led statement on forced labor in supply chains at a trade meeting in Milwaukee. The Trump administration has imposed tariffs of 10% or 12.5% on goods from 59 countries and the European Union, and the USTR is conducting a Section 301 investigation into 16 trading partners. However, G20 trade ministers reached consensus on condemning the weaponization of food trade.
