The European CPC network has launched eleven coordinated actions against ten video game publishers, including Mojang (Microsoft), King.com, Riot Games, Supercell and Ubisoft EMEA. The complaints focus on cascading virtual currency conversions that obscure real costs in euros, deliberately engineered unusable balances, and abusive contract clauses allowing unilateral changes to currency value. Authorities are also targeting loot boxes, addictive design and commercial practices aimed at minors in titles such as Minecraft, Candy Crush Saga, Valorant and Call of Duty Mobile. Cryptocurrencies and tokens on public blockchains are explicitly excluded from scope, as they operate in open economies with secondary markets and self-custody. The European Commission is due to present a Digital Fairness Act against these practices by the end of the year.
