Reddit Is Killing RSS Feeds and Public API Access to Fight AI Scrapers

Reddit will shut down RSS feeds on November 13, 2026 and completely close public API access in March 2027, citing the fight against automated scraping and abuse. The platform is encouraging developers to migrate to its Devvit Developer Platform with a one-million-dollar migration fund and one-thousand-dollar payments per eligible app. Reddit has signed licensing agreements with Google for approximately sixty million dollars per year and with OpenAI to fuel artificial intelligence model training. The company has also sued Anthropic and Perplexity for unauthorized scraping, while the legacy version of the site will be restricted to active users.
