SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, known as « Crypto Mom, » has formally submitted her resignation from the Securities and Exchange Commission, effective Oct. 2. She served on the commission for approximately eight years, including as director of the Crypto Task Force since Feb. 4, 2025. Her term officially expired in June 2025. Peirce will join Regent University in Virginia as an associate professor in November, focusing on federal litigation, securities regulation and digital assets. Her seat may not be filled immediately, while the seat of Democratic Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, who departed in January, remains unfilled.
