Danske Bank, Denmark’s largest bank with approximately 19,472 employees, has already cut more than 680 positions between February and May 2026, including 420 jobs in February followed by 262 in May with 199 in Denmark. The bank has raised its annual technology investment to approximately 4.5 billion Danish kroner and targets 2 billion Danish kroner in annual productivity gains from AI and digital tools by 2028 under its Forward ’28 plan. Frans Woelders, head of technology and services, confirms that AI will impact the entire organization. Danske Bank notably completed Denmark’s first AI-agent payment pilot with Mastercard and is strengthening its collaboration with Amazon Web Services.
