The Ethereum Foundation designated FOCIL as the top priority proposal for the Hegotá upgrade and identified two EIPs as must-ship for this upgrade. Fifteen additional proposals were classified as A-tier, meaning they are expected to ship unless development or testing constraints force cuts. Client teams could begin implementing Hegotá in late 2026 following the Glamsterdam upgrade. Ethereum’s last major upgrade, Fusaka, went live on Dec. 3, 2025, bringing PeerDAS which changed how nodes handle rollup data.
