Hackers who targeted Liquid, a Bitcoin sidechain built by Blockstream, returned 3,400 BTC on Monday out of the 3,998 BTC they had drained over the weekend. Approximately 598.5 BTC, worth roughly $47 million at Monday’s Bitcoin price near $79,100, remain in the attackers’ address. They had set the condition that Blockstream fix the flaw first and ensure every node running the bridge had been updated. Blockstream shut off the bridge and asked exchanges to freeze L-BTC deposits and withdrawals, without specifying when service would resume or how it would cover the missing coins gap.
