Nscale, a UK-based AI cloud and data center company, has agreed to supply at least $3.5 billion worth of computing power to Figure, the robotics startup building general-purpose humanoid robots. The commitment could scale to over $6 billion, covering the planned deployment of up to 100,000 NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs at a facility in Barstow, Texas, with hardware installations expected to begin in the second half of 2027. Figure, valued at $39 billion in its Series C round, has raised over $2 billion total from investors including NVIDIA, Microsoft, and OpenAI. Nscale itself closed a $2 billion funding round in March 2026, reaching a $14.6 billion valuation. Figure’s Helix AI model handles perception, reasoning, and motor control simultaneously, requiring specialized compute infrastructure adapted to the unique challenges of robotics.
