Ripple has locked 200 million XRP back into escrow, valued at approximately $272 million at current prices. This operation is part of the company’s regular monthly cycle, which has been unlocking and re-locking the majority of its token reserves since December 2017. Since the program began, 55 billion XRP had been deposited into time-locked smart contracts, with approximately 31.28 billion (31% of total supply) remaining in escrow as of September 1, 2026. The average monthly decrease works out to around 221 million XRP, which matches the monthly amount of 200 to 300 million tokens entering potential circulation. Market impact remains limited, as participants have long since factored this predictable cycle into their models.
