In Britain, 240 taxpayers each declared over one million pounds in cryptoasset capital gains during the 2024-25 tax year, reporting a combined 717 million pounds. These 240 individuals, fewer than 2% of the 17,600 people reporting crypto disposals, nonetheless held over half of the 1.38 billion pounds in taxable gains and the 13.8 billion pounds in disposal proceeds. Crypto taxpayers are predominantly male (87%) and young (54% aged 25 to 44). From 2027, exchanges will be required to report customer data to the British tax authority under the OECD framework.
