Chelsea FC has completed the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa for £7.5 million. The 33-year-old World Cup winner with Argentina in 2022 is returning to London six years after leaving Arsenal for the Midlands. He will sign a two-year contract with an option for an additional season, pending a successful medical. Aston Villa, who paid £17 million for him in 2020, are recouping approximately 55 % of the original transfer fee. The club from Birmingham has already secured his replacement by signing Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma for £30 million.
