Binance has hired two senior compliance executives from rival exchange Crypto.com, a direct response to a wave of departures from its compliance and financial-crime monitoring teams earlier in 2026. The world’s largest crypto exchange has faced intense regulatory pressure since pleading guilty in November 2023 to violations of the Bank Secrecy Act and sanctions laws in the United States, resulting in a multi-billion-dollar settlement and the departure of founder Changpeng Zhao as CEO. Crypto.com, headquartered in Singapore, has built a reputation for rigorous compliance by securing MiCA authorization in Europe and dozens of US Money Transmitter Licenses across multiple states. These hires are part of Binance’s commitment to comprehensively overhaul its compliance program, including enhanced transaction monitoring and improved know-your-customer procedures.
