Anthropic gives Claude a unified memory across chat and Cowork

Share

Anthropic has announced that Claude now features a unified memory shared between its standard chat interface and the agentic tool Claude Cowork. Previously, these two environments used separate memory pools, forcing users to re-explain their context and preferences every time they switched interfaces. The new memory operates in the cloud and automatically syncs information across both surfaces. Users can view, edit, or delete stored data through a Topics system accessible in settings. Regarding privacy, sensitive categories such as health information and personal beliefs are excluded from memory storage by default. The rollout varies by plan: memory is enabled by default for Free, Pro, and Max subscribers, but disabled by default for Team and Enterprise plans.
