Kalshi’s Bitcoin traders brace for $67,000 amid leverage shock

Kalshi, the CFTC-regulated prediction market, launched Bitcoin perpetual futures contracts in early June, generating over $5.5 billion in volume within two weeks. Traders are now positioning for Bitcoin to reach $67,000, a two-month high. These contracts offer 5.9x to 6.1x leverage with funding rates settled every eight hours, meaning an adverse price move of approximately 17% can fully liquidate a position at 6x leverage. CME Group has filed a lawsuit challenging the CFTC’s approval, while this launch carves out a middle path between CME’s institutional futures and offshore unregulated platforms for US traders seeking leveraged crypto exposure.
