A federal judge on Tuesday rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s motion to overturn her sex trafficking conviction and secure her release. The 20-year prison sentence handed down in 2021 remains in effect. Maxwell claimed that evidence was withheld and that she would have been exonerated had the truth been presented. Judge Paul A. Engelmayer described the petition as demonstrably meritless and found that no element raised could disturb the trial outcome. Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 for sex trafficking alongside Jeffrey Epstein, who died in August 2019 in his New York jail cell.
