India Prices $10 Billion of Equity Deals in August, a Record Month

India raised nearly $10 billion in equity deals in August, putting it on course for its strongest month on record. The $3.2 billion government sale of Life Insurance Corp. of India shares led the tally, followed by Manipal Health Enterprises’ $958 million IPO. These deals came as the Nifty 50 fell 2.21% in August and 7.36% year-to-date. Foreign portfolio investors bought a net $2.5 billion of Indian equities in August, after purchasing $2.1 billion in July.
