Nuclear energy is experiencing a strong comeback driven by the energy demand from AI-related data centers, the pursuit of energy independence amid geopolitical tensions, and decarbonization targets. Meta has signed partnerships with TerraPower and Oklo for 6.6 GW of nuclear capacity, Google is funding Kairos Power for 500 MW by 2035, and Microsoft reached an agreement to restart the Three Mile Island plant. Cameco signed a contract with India to deliver nearly 8,462 tonnes of uranium over nine years, estimated at $2.6 billion, while Kazatomprom alone accounts for approximately 40% of global uranium production with 25,839 tonnes in 2025. Constellation Energy completed its acquisition of Calpine in January 2026 for $26.6 billion, becoming the world’s largest private electricity producer with 60 GW of total capacity.
