China to tighten export controls on drones to US amid tech tensions

This decision follows restrictive measures taken by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) against foreign-made drones. This escalation is part of the ongoing technological and trade rivalry between the two countries, with export controls being used as a strategic tool rather than indicating military escalation. Dual-use technologies with both civilian and military applications are particularly targeted by these reciprocal measures. The odds of Xi Jinping visiting the United States before 2027 have decreased, dropping from 94% to 92.5% according to prediction markets.
