Bitcoin (BTC) Whales Are Moving Big as Coldcard Chaos Sends Shockwave

Bitcoin activity has hit a three-month high with 712,000 addresses active in the past seven days, according to Santiment. The Coldcard security incident involving weak keys generated by affected devices caused estimated losses exceeding 2,055 BTC, or approximately $130 million. Galaxy Research identified that tokens were stolen from 7,300 addresses across three confirmed attack waves. Santiment warned that Bitcoin volatility could remain elevated over the coming weeks, with fear potentially pushing retail investors to sell. According to Trace Finance, the stolen BTC remains difficult to monetize, as every regulated on-ramp can refuse these coins, leaving only mixers, cross-chain bridges, and OTC desks in weak jurisdictions.
