Apple filed suit on July 10 in Northern California federal court against OpenAI, accusing it of stealing trade secrets related to hardware designs and manufacturing processes. More than 400 former Apple employees now work at OpenAI, with two ex-employees named as defendants alongside the AI company. Apple alleges that OpenAI actively coached former employees on how to bypass security protocols to extract sensitive information. The 41-page complaint seeks immediate injunctive relief to prevent OpenAI from possessing, using, or disclosing the allegedly stolen trade secrets, along with damages and the return of misappropriated property.
