Zcash surged about 62% over the past week to reach a high of $880, its highest level since 2018, before retracing to around $830. ZEC holders must meet a snapshot deadline at block 3,459,350, estimated around 19:00 UTC on Aug. 24, to qualify for voting on proposals that include replacing periodic halvings with a gradual issuance curve and cutting target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. The vote, scheduled from Aug. 25 to Sept. 14, requires participation of at least 1 million ZEC to be considered representative of coinholders. Approved proposals would still need further development and deployment, as the poll is a signaling vote and not an automatic protocol change. Zcash currently ranks 10th by market cap.
