A 47-year-old man was held captive for two hours at his home in Jouy-en-Josas, Yvelines, by three individuals seeking to steal his cryptocurrency. The attackers believed the victim held approximately 6 million euros in crypto assets but ultimately found only around 3,000 euros in his accounts. The victim was tied up, gagged, and beaten before managing to free himself and alert the authorities. The investigation has been assigned to the Versailles organized crime unit with no arrests announced at this stage. This case is part of a surge in cryptocurrency-related kidnappings in France, with 77 incidents recorded since the beginning of 2026 compared to 45 throughout 2025.
