Yandex says a second data center was hit by drones in two days

Yandex, Russia’s dominant technology company, announced that a second data center was hit by drone attacks in just two days. On October 9, 2026, modules at the Kaluga data center, the company’s largest facility covering approximately 130,000 square meters, were knocked offline. The previous day, a strike on the Sasovo site in the Ryazan region sparked a fire and completely halted operations, including two supercomputers used to train YandexGPT. Major clients including Russian Railways and MegaFon were affected by the attacks. Following the second strike, Yandex shares fell approximately 4% on the Moscow Exchange.
