Vitalik Buterin says he uses kohaku-cli for many Ethereum payments through privacy protocols, alongside a separate AI-written tool for updating his ENS records. The local command-line wallet allows users to retain a chosen software revision, while making them responsible for installing, retaining and replacing dependencies and code updates. Its documentation states that kohaku-cli is unaudited, under active development and built with AI assistance, leaving users exposed to the risk of catastrophic fund loss. The wallet supports public Ethereum accounts and private balances through Tornado Cash, Railgun and Privacy Pools V1. A prepared Railgun operation may already be signed even when broadcast is withheld, while software provenance, dependency verification and signing authority remain separate control points.
