The US Treasury Department has designated Palestine Action, a UK-based activist group, as a specially designated global terrorist entity through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). The designation freezes all US-held assets of the organization and bars Americans from any dealings with it. Supporters worldwide now face secondary sanctions, including potential asset freezes and lifetime bans on entering the United States. Founded in July 2020 by Huda Ammori and Richard Barnard, the group had claimed responsibility for over 385 direct actions targeting Israeli defense contractors, particularly Elbit Systems, by March 2025. The US move follows the UK’s own proscription of the group in July 2025, creating a transatlantic legal framework around the organization.
