A survey conducted by Uphold and American Banker among 114 US decision-makers found that 75 % of financial institutions have active blockchain initiatives, with 22 % in deployment or scaling phase and 53 % running pilot programs or formal evaluations. Two-thirds of surveyed institutions have allocated dedicated funding for digital asset infrastructure, 54 % have issued requests for proposals to potential partners, and 72 % have appointed a specific executive to oversee blockchain strategy. The three dominant use cases are digital wallets and custody solutions at 72 %, buy/sell/hold wealth management services at 70 %, and stablecoin infrastructure for institutional settlements at 64 %. The main barriers remain cybersecurity threats and operational risk management challenges, each flagged by 47 % of respondents, followed by regulatory compliance complexity at 46 %.
