Ukrainian forces struck the TANECO refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, over 1,100 kilometers from the front line, on the nights of June 11-12 and July 7-8. The ELOU AVT-7 atmospheric distillation unit, the primary equipment for initial crude oil separation, was damaged, causing partial shutdown of a facility processing more than 16 million tons of crude oil annually. The nearby TAIF-NK refinery, sharing infrastructure with the complex, also experienced operational disruptions. Tatneft subsequently limited gasoline sales in affected regions, confirming the meaningful impact on fuel output. This attack represents a major escalation in Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities, demonstrating its ability to reach targets deep inside Russian territory.
