The strikes were retaliation for Irans attempt to lay sea mines in the strategic shipping passage and its missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. President Donald Trump described the strikes as large and powerful on Truth Social, warning of an even bigger response if Iran retaliates. On Sunday, the U.S. had already struck rocket launchers on Irans Larak Island, prompting Tehran to fire missiles at U.S. sites in Jordan that were intercepted.
