Throughout August, U.S. investors have been increasing their exposure to American equities. Long positions in the Nasdaq, S&P 500 and especially the Russell 2000 have risen over the past three weeks. However, the momentum behind weekly inflows has begun to moderate. With positioning slightly stretched and unrealized profits accumulated, any deterioration in the growth outlook could trigger a mass selloff.
