President Trump will host Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House on September 24 to extend the Busan trade truce reached in October 2025, which expires on November 10, 2026. Under the current agreement, China committed to purchasing at least 25 million metric tons of US soybeans annually through 2028, along with 17 billion dollars in additional annual purchases of US agricultural goods. Without an extension, tariffs and export controls would revert to their pre-truce levels. The discussions will also focus on rare-earth supply arrangements and reciprocal tariff reductions on approximately 30 billion dollars worth of goods.
