Treasury yields ease as global borrowing costs tumble

Treasury yields were lower Monday, tracking a global easing of government borrowing costs amid falling oil prices. The 10-year Treasury note yield fell around 3 basis points to 4.967%, after hitting a 19-year high of 5.041% last week. European bond yields also declined, with German 10-year bunds and U.K. 10-year gilts each down 5 basis points. Investors are still digesting last week’s quarter-percentage-point rate hike by the Federal Reserve and assessing whether further rate rises will follow before the end of the year.
