Treasury Drops Crypto Wallet Surveillance Rules

The U.S. Treasury Department, through FinCEN, has withdrawn the 2020 unhosted wallet reporting proposal, ending this attempt to increase cryptocurrency surveillance. The agency has also canceled its 2023 finding that cryptocurrency mixing is a primary money laundering concern. The Treasury Department will continue to monitor crypto mixers and may introduce new measures in the future.
