Traders holding $39.45 million in Bitcoin perpetual contracts on BitMEX have 16 days to exit before forced closures begin. The exchange will block new XBTUSD positions on Aug. 26 at 04:00 UTC, making the market exit-only. Any position still open on Sept. 23 at 04:00 UTC will be force-closed when exchange services terminate. BitMEX announced the shutdown on July 23 following a strategic review by its owner, HDR Global Trading Limited. Users leaving assets on the platform after closure will face monthly account fees based on the greater of $50 or 1% per year of the remaining balance.
