The corporate blockchain wars are heating up as Circle’s Arc goes live

Circle officially launched its Arc blockchain in mid-September with major partners including Visa, Mastercard, and BlackRock serving as inaugural validators. The company also minted 10 billion ARC tokens, potentially enabling transaction processing without using the USDC stablecoin. This move is part of a broader corporate blockchain war, with competitors like the JPMorgan-backed Canton chain (partners include Nasdaq, Goldman Sachs, and BNP Paribas) and Stripe-backed Tempo chain also vying for institutional adoption. Avalanche, Robinhood, and Coinbase’s Base are similarly positioning themselves in this market. Analysts estimate it will take until September 2027 to determine the winners of this race for the financial industry’s preferred blockchain.
