Thailand to block Bitget in December over unlicensed crypto trading

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, the operator of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, for allegedly operating without a license. The regulator has asked the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block Bitget’s website, associated domains and mobile application from December 5. Users have been advised to take action regarding assets held on the platform before the deadline. According to the regulator, Bitget offered crypto trading services between 2022 and 2025, charged trading fees and promoted its services through Thai-language websites and social media channels, violating Thailand’s digital asset business licensing requirements. Prosecutors will decide whether to bring charges, while courts will determine any criminal liability.
