According to the Wall Street Journal, Tesla is considering separating from its Chinese operations through a spin-off, sale, or closure to remove regulatory obstacles preventing a merger with SpaceX, a US defense contractor. Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, which produces over half of the company’s global deliveries with an annual capacity exceeding 950,000 vehicles, is Tesla’s most productive site. Elon Musk immediately denied the reports on X, calling them absurdly fake news and stating the matter had never been discussed internally. Despite the denial, the market continues to speculate on a potential SpaceX takeover of Tesla around $450 per share.
