Naive AI, a Beijing-based startup founded in February 2026, has raised approximately $400 million across three funding rounds, bringing its valuation to $1.42 billion. Tencent participated in these rounds alongside IDG Capital, MPCi, and HSG, formerly known as Sequoia Capital China. The company, which operates with fewer than 100 employees, focuses on enhancing existing open-weight AI models rather than training new ones from scratch. Its founder, Dai Jifeng, an associate professor at Tsinghua University, plans to release its first open-weight large language model by September 2026.
