Ting-Wei Willy Sun, a former contractor for Super Micro Computer Inc., pleaded guilty on October 9, 2026, in a New York federal court for his role in a scheme to reroute Nvidia-powered AI servers to China in violation of US export controls. According to the indictment, approximately $2.5 billion worth of Super Micro servers were sold to a Southeast Asian company used as a transit point, including over $510 million worth shipped to Chinese customers within a three-week window between late April and mid-May 2025. Supermicro co-founder Yih-Shyan Wally Liaw has been arrested as part of this investigation launched in March 2026, while Taiwan sales manager Ruei-Tsang Steven Chang remains at large. Super Micro shares fell approximately 30-33% following the March indictment.
