Three bets totaling less than $175 stood to pay out more than $9,500 combined, with initial odds around 1%. The trades were placed minutes before the official announcement on October 9, 2026 via Truth Social. This is not the first such incident for Kalshi, which has previously referred similar cases to the CFTC involving Trump insiders, including a teleprompter operator in July 2026 whose profits were frozen. The investigation aims to determine whether the traders had advance knowledge of the appointment.
