American startup Subsense is developing NanoBCI, a non-surgical brain-computer interface using intranasally delivered nanoparticles. Founded around 2021-2022 by Tetiana Aleksandrova and Artem Sokolov, the company raised $27 million in seed funding as of December 2025. The technology relies on plasmonic and magnetoelectric nanoparticles combined with a wearable headset to read neural signals and stimulate brain activity. The immediate clinical targets are Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. Mouse proof-of-concept studies began in late 2025 and are expected to wrap up by late 2026.
