Washington-based startup Starcloud announced plans to integrate Bitcoin mining ASICs aboard its upcoming Starcloud-2 satellite, now expected to launch in 2027. Founded in January 2024, the company already launched its test satellite Starcloud-1 on November 2, 2025, carrying an Nvidia H100 GPU, which it claims was the first data-center-class GPU to operate in orbit. Starcloud-2 will also host Nvidia Blackwell chips and AWS server blades, creating a multi-purpose computing node in orbit. The startup raised approximately $450 million in total funding, reaching a $2.3 billion valuation, and filed with the FCC in February 2026 for permission to deploy a constellation of up to 88,000 satellites.
