Since October 18, 2026, Jump Crypto’s team has required the non-refundable burning of 1 SOL, worth about $100, for every vulnerability report submitted through Firedancer’s bug bounty program, the independent validator client for Solana. The measure is intended to reduce AI-generated or AI-assisted reports, with duplicates remaining subject to the same rule, while submissions without payment can still be reviewed but are not eligible for a payout. Until November 20, 2026, standard rewards are doubled, and vulnerabilities related to the Alpenglow consensus can receive up to three times the standard amount, with a discretionary ceiling of $300,000 for critical issues. The policy follows a public audit that received 809 submissions from 162 researchers but identified only 127 unique vulnerabilities, while the review backlog peaked at 299 reports. Because Alpenglow went live on the mainnet on October 21, 2026, the team is seeking to focus security scrutiny on the new consensus mechanism before the temporary reward doubling ends.
