Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana co-founder, says phishing and social engineering attacks pose the biggest threat to crypto, rather than AI or quantum computers. He recommends using a dedicated iOS device with Lockdown Mode enabled and a multisignature wallet. According to Binance’s Nov. 3 investigation update, hackers compromised an employee through fake job interviews, then used the compromised devices, stolen credentials and an internal AI tool to access the exchange’s wallet infrastructure and execute unauthorized transfers of $6.34 billion in digital assets. The Security Alliance also handled 99 incidents from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3 and tracked 5,137 phishing domains during the same period. Victims of fraudulent customer support calls, including individuals who disclosed their Apple ID credentials or wallet recovery phrases, lost roughly $1.57 million and 1.12 BTC.
